Over the last 6 weeks, I’ve had cupcakes, pizza, burritos, donuts, bundt cakes, and some other things that are usually on the “do not eat” list and still lost 10 lbs of fat.
I can imagine all the things going through your mind right now including, "WHAT IN THE WORLD?!"
Here is the thing, I have tried all those diets where you eliminate carbohydrates and even eat only 1200 calories a day in hopes that you would see the scale move (even just a tiny bitt). Does this sound at all familiar to you?
Now, I did lose the weight, but it also came back very quickly because I didn't really learn how to integrate good nutrition into my lifestyle. All I did was eliminate certain foods and that was it.
So, the question is: How do you eat sweets and still lose weight?
The answer: Know what to eat, when to eat, and how much of it.
Don’t worry, it’s not as complicated as you might think here are several guidelines to follow:
1) You will definitely need to get active on the daily. This will help you burn calories and get those feel good endorphins going! This movement could, at first, be as little as 15 minutes a day. It doesn't take much to kickstart your body and metabolism
2) Stick with portion sizes: For each of your meals, you'll want to follow this general portion size: palm size protein, fist size complex carbs, and two large handful of veggies. This applies to when you go out to eat at restaurants too! (When in doubt, bust out that hand)
3) If you know you’re going to go for that dessert, ease back on the carbs for your meal. So, if you know you'll be considering dessert, maybe don't go back for a second plate of the pasta. Want the cupcake? Have a lettuce wrapped burger rather than the bun. Now, if you want a second plate of pasta for dinner, cut back on the excess carbs during lunch or snacks.
Weight loss is a calories in and calories out game So, if you can know what to eat, when to eat, and how much of it, you'll be winning the game!
Before you get crazy too excited, I do need to remind you NOT to go overboard and eat all the things for every meal! Sweets in moderation will be great for your tastebuds and your body.
