3 Quick Healthy Travel Tips

Sometimes having a busy lifestyle where you're constantly on the go can keep you from having the time and energy work on your health goals. Now, if you're already working on your weight loss goals, you might find it difficult to stay on track while traveling. Does this mean you should give up all hope? Certainly not!

Here are 3 different nutritional tips to focus on while traveling. Whether you're going on a road trip, flying, just headed out for a long day, these tips will keep you energized and going:

1) Pack a lot of snacks

Stock up on snacks that are portable and do not need to be refrigerated such as dried fruits and nuts, protein bars, and beef/turkey jerky. When you snack, you’ll keep yourself from becoming too hungry, which will help you make healthier food choices throughout the day. When packing snacks, make sure you are allocating everything into single servings as to not over eat or eat all of your snacks before the end of your trip.

If you don’t want to take around all these snacks in your travel bags, hit up the local supermarket when you arrive at your destination to stay ahead of the hunger game!

2) Eat Breakfast

Before you begin your travels, eat a healthy breakfast. We have heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. This is true! It will give you energy, mental clarity and prepare you for your day. Also, if you have your own breakfast already, you won't have to rely on whatever is randomly served at the airport, train, or boat ride.

Eating breakfast helps you avoid overeating during your later meals, which means you'll be maintaining your weight loss goals during your trip!

3) Eat Vegetables with Every Meal

With each meal that you eat, add vegetables. This will help you get your fiber and greens in while still enjoying local delicacies or a social lunch/dinner out. The goal is to integrate healthy eating into your lifestyle and for you to be able to have a good time, not to avoid delicious dishes or social situations!

Traveling doesn’t have to get in the way of your goals. All you need to do is prepare yourself and come up with a game plan before your trip. Do this and you’ll be good to go!
